So today’s assignment is one hell of a challenge. The challenge is to be brief, and being brief is not really one of my strong points…I don’t even know where to begin. Perhaps I should try going down the travel route again, just to stick with the theme of my personal blog…here goes.
I surface from the water, sun on my face, waves lapping at my back. I remove my diving mask and take a deep breath. Suddenly I notice it, a small green bottle, bobbing about in the vast ocean, like a lone silver coin in a sea of bronze pennies. I swim closer, reach out and grasp it in my hands. I can see a small piece of paper rolled up inside. Keeping hold of the bottle, I make my way back to the boat. Once aboard, I remove the paper which I discover to be a letter. There is a correspondence address at the top but it is unreadable. The letter reads: “To whomever finds this message in a bottle, you have been blessed. Blessed with the gift of happiness. May you take this with you wherever you travel, and when you find the time is right, re-insert the note and drop it back into the ocean. No matter where you are in the world, you will have successfully spread happiness to someone else in need.”
The letter was not signed and as the address was unreadable, there was no way for me to know where it had originated or who had sent it. Frustrated for a while, I pondered the endless possibilities before resigning to the fact that the author was to remain unknown.
I smiled; a huge smile of elation. My day had been enriched and I felt lucky enough to have been the one who found that tiny bottle of happiness. I tuck the bottle and letter into my backpack and continue with my day. I will resend this message; I don’t know where, or when, but I know for sure that passing on this blessing will be one of the most important things I do.
Message in a bottle..love it π
Cheers π
