To a woman who never flinches when I cast a doubtful stare,
To a woman who always listens, in dark times she’s always there;
To a woman who tries her best, to raise me well and true,
Yes mum, you guessed it right, I’m talking about you.
To a woman who could’ve throttled me, smacked me on the bum,
To a woman who shows unconditional love. Why? ‘Cos she’s my mum.
To a woman whom I owe everything, she certainly deserves to know,
To a woman I love so dearly, more than words could ever show.
To a woman who’s mum to my brothers, she’d like to ‘tan their hides’,
To a woman who keeps on giving, sometimes herself she deprives.
To a woman who’s kind and generous, she’s the strongest one around,
To a woman who always picks us up when we fall on troubled ground.
To a woman who’ll always be there, when we need her the most,
To a woman on this Mother’s Day: Mum, it’s to you I make this toast.
