As I appear to have been neglecting my blog recently in begrudging and reluctant favour of participating in full time work; a job I care little for and wish I could walk away from but cannot as the financial catch 22 situation prevents me from doing so, I’ve been channeling my creativity and writing into poetry rather than prose. I have lately found that piecing together paragraphs of grammatically sound and well-structured sentences that once came naturally to me are now an unwanted challenge, and rhyme and verse are the only ways I feel I can express myself.
I hope the ability to write more freely and easily about the subjects I am interested in return soon, and of course, I hope the ability to pen poetry remains with me too. For now though, in this interim period, here is a little something I wrote while attempting to fill my writing void:
Close your eyes Emily, please don’t cry,
You were made for bigger things in this life.
Your soul will touch those you love if you try,
So close your eyes Emily, please don’t cry.
Imagine space where you’re free,
Constraints of life will never be.
Don’t stay where you don’t belong,
Trust your gut, live your life, sing your song.
Don’t give in, don’t give up,
Change will come if you trust.
I trust in you, in your dreams,
Your eyes are souls with wanting means.
Look to the sky and you will find
The path you chose in your mind.
There may be bumps along the way,
You’ll find your peace soon one day.
Close your eyes Emily, please don’t cry,
You were made for bigger things in this life.
Your soul will touch those you love if you try,
So close your eyes Emily, please don’t cry.
