“Oh Santa Cruz, no you’re not that far, oh oh oh oh….” goes the song by one time hit-meisters, The Thrills. And they were, right: Santa Cruz actually wasn’t that far from San Francisco, the city I’d spent a few days exploring in August 2005, following my nine week stint working on a summer camp in Virginia.
Reluctantly departing San Fran in late August, I made my way south, on a greyhound bus, to the beach, to the sea, to the home of surfing!
